lyrics

a single light was shining
i'm never good at timing
as she was looking for a key
in the pocket of my raincoat
where keys will sink and not float
to the bottom of the sea

she asked me "will you stand here?"
with a whisper in my right ear
as she was tying up my hands
i screamed to "call my brother!
who's looking for my mother
i hope my father understands!"

she threw me with a quite a lot of motion
how could she in the depths of the great ocean
all she needed was a single old brass key
i pleaded at the bottom of the sea

drowning drowning drowning drown
someone save me from the sea
sinking sinking sinking sink
was the fate she cast on me
drowning drowning drowning drown
at the bottom of the sea

under water i was frowning
that life's not meant for drowning
cause all i wanted was to be
a singer with a raincoat
and a girl to keep me afloat
all she really wanted was the key

soon a sailor did untie me
as he did he whispered gently
i need the key as a reward
so i soon did hand it over
barnacles lay on his shoulder
he tied the key right to his sword

light found me
as i made my way up to land
sincerely
she laid a kiss upon my left hand
walking away
a single tear she did afford me
nothing to say
now that no one has the key
quite rightly

drowning drowning drowning drown
someone save me from the sea
sinking sinking sinking sink
was the fate she cast on me
drowning drowning drowning drown
at the bottom of the sea
